Day 3- Favorite memory from childhood.
This is so difficult because there are so many, but what springs to mind first is my Nan and Grandad’s wedding.
When I was 6 I remember me, my mum and my dad going to Bournemouth to visit my grandparents. This was unusual because whenever mum and I went my dad never came with us, but this time he did, I remember being really confused about that. I also remember having to wear a red tartan skirt and my mum constantly fussing over me getting it dirty. I have no recollection the wedding itself, I only know it was in a registry office, but I do remember the photos being taken afterwards. Me and my two cousins had to pose for loads of pictures in front of this old looking church, then we went for a meal and I had prawn cocktail for the first time ever and bloody loved it. It was put in front of me and my eyes lit up with wonder, and I still remember being astounded by it.
Throughout the whole day I just remember being so incredibly happy and having all my family together. It didn’t matter to me that I’d always thought before that my Nan and Grandad were already married, or had just assumed, but it didn’t matter that they hadn’t been because I had such a good day. Then we all went back to their house and I remember being really tired and falling asleep and my dad carrying me to the train station.
I think I chose this because my Grandad died over the summer and I still really miss him. Loads of the happiest times of my childhood were spent with him, either just hanging out, fixing things, watering the garden or on his boat or on days out going to really fun exciting places like Alice in Wonderland Adventureland or Monkey World. I miss him so much and I’ll always keep his photo by my bed to remind me of all the good times we had.
I miss you Grandad, I love you.
